The Tale of the Hasty Baker

There was a hasty baker
And he could hardly wait
To make a batch of cookies
And serve them on a plate
He mixed an egg, vanilla, butter,
Milk, brown sugar, baking powder . . .
He put them in the oven for a quarter of an hour
They came out burned and run together--
He forgot the FLOUR

Don't be so hasty baker
You should just slow down (slow down)
Look at your recipe
And check it carefully
Then your baking will be more respectable
And your cookies will taste so delectable!

Another time the baker
He rushed to make some bread
"I won't forget the flour this time"
He said inside his head . . .
So to the flour he added water
Kneaded in a little sugar
Put it in the oven and imagined how he'd feast . . .
It came out like a great big rock, 'cause
He forgot the YEAST

Don't be so hasty baker
You should just slow down (slow down)
Look at your recipe
And check it carefully
Then your baking will be more respectable
And your bread will be much more delectable!

Most things worth doing
Are worth putting in time
For cooking or for cleaning
Or for writing the right rhyme, for you might
Not be careful if you try to go too fast
But if you take your time then you just
Might make something that is going to last
So
Don't be so hasty baker
You should just slow down (slow down)
Look at your recipe
And check it carefully
Just use a little sense
Confirm all your ingredients
Then your baking will be more respectable
All the care you take will be detectable
Everything you make will be delectable!
