A BIT SHY

Feel a bit shy

But I thought I would try

To come say, "Hi"

Been watching you a while

You have such a nice smile

So I just thought I'll

Gather my courage and come up to you

Smile and ask, "How do you do?"

I guess it all depends if you'd like to make a friend that's new

That book you're holding, I loved a lot

And I really admire those shoes you've got

Something else caught my eye I was going to mention--I forgot

You can tell I'm not cool

I feel a little like a fool

If you can look past that, then you'll

See I'm curious and kind of smart

I love good words and all kinds of art

Some people think I'm witty, and I think I have a pretty good heart

It makes me nervous thinking what you might say

You might just turn and walk away

But I

Thought I least I could try . . .

Lyrics

MOVE MOVE MOVE

Everyone needs time to chill

To be quiet and still

Take a trip to Placidville

And then stay a while . . . until

There comes the time you've

Got to find your own groove

Don't need anyone to approve

You just move move move

You can knock your knees

Or pretend you are a dog with fleas

You can run in place

Make a lion and a lemon face

You can kick up high

Stretch your fingers up toward the sky

Give your head a wobble, a shake, a nod

Imagine all the things you can do with your body

When it's the time you've

Got to find your own groove

Don't need anyone to approve

You just move move move

Quick, bend down low

And come up again very slow

Make your arms flop

And then up on one foot--hop, hop!

You can give a spin

Draw a zigzag with your chin

You can tap your toes

Maybe you can even wiggle your nose

Some people can--are you one of those?

When it's the time you've

Got to find your own groove

Don't need anyone to approve

You just move move move

Who cares if they disapprove?

Just move move move move move move move move move!

Wild Strawberries

Mama, Mama, Mama -- please don't go

Won't you wait just a few more minutes before you mow

Take a peek out the window, you won't have to look too hard

To see something spectacular sprouting in our yard

Wild (Wild, Wild) Strawberries (Strawberries, Strawberries, Strawberries)

Wild (Wild, Wild) Strawberries (Strawberries, Strawberries, Strawberries)

Wild (Wild, Wild) Strawberries (Strawberries, Strawberries, Strawberries)

There is a lot I've not learned yet, because I am a child

But I can tell you one thing sure: those berries, they're growing wild!

Papa, Papa, Papa -- please, don't pass

Peruse the minor miracle growing in the grass

If you say that it's okay and will not make me sick

I thought that we could go outside and pick and pick and pick

Those

Wild (Wild, Wild) Strawberries (Strawberries, Strawberries, Strawberries)

Wild (Wild, Wild) Strawberries (Strawberries, Strawberries, Strawberries)

Wild (Wild, Wild) Strawberries (Strawberries, Strawberries, Strawberries)

I wonder what they taste like . . . do you think they're strong or mild?

Either way, I've got to say, those berries? They're pretty wild!

Later on, we could make some jam

I can see in your eye you're as intrigued as I am

By those

Wild Strawberries

Wild Strawberries

Wild Strawberries

To see those spots of red among the green just makes me smile

Don't dally, now, 'cause you, me and those berries (those berries, those berries) --

It's going to be wild!

SHADES

See you, snowsuit, in a while

Season's here for summer style

Time for sandals, shorts and tees

Critical accessories . . .

Summertime has begun

We're outside having fun

It's hot hot hot in the sun

But we still look cool

In our shades

Solar rays shine brilliantly

Make it difficult to see

Went and browsed the selection

Got ocular protection

Summertime has begun

We're outside having fun

It's hot hot hot in the sun

But we still look cool

In our shades

Sounds impossible, but somehow we

Are fire and ice simultaneously

Working up a sweat playing games on the lawn

All of the while with our sunglasses on

Summertime has begun

We're outside having fun

It's hot hot hot in the sun

But we still look cool

In our shades

We got it made

Feel like I just got paid

But I don't even have a job

And I am sure not a slob

Protect my eyes 'cause I'm no fool

And I still look cool

STILL LEARNING

I plopped down on the floor with one thing to do

I would sit right there until I tied that shoe

I grabbed those laces and I really tried

But it all went loopy, and it wouldn't stay tied

My mom leaned over me and said, "I'd say

That's a big improvement over yesterday.

I know to do it perfect is your heart's dear yearning,

But just be patient; you're still learning."

Anyone anywhere who's done anything

Had to learn how to do it from the beginning

And in everything you do, just as far as I can tell

You have to do it poorly before you do it well

So try to relax, and give yourself a break

And take as much time as you need to take

I broke Mom's necklace, and I didn't feel proud

But she got real angry and she yelled real loud

She sent me upstairs to await my doom

Later came a knock on the door of my room

Her eyes looked as if she were about to cry

She said, "You made a mistake, but so did I.

I'm very sorry; now the tables turn--

In case you're wondering, I'm still learning."

I'm still learning

I'm still learning

I'm still learning

We're all still learning

Choose Your Shoes

When you are singing, "Rain, Rain, Go Away"

You must select the best costume for the day

And then before your outfit is complete

You must be sure not to forget your feet

Some flippy-flops, or dress-ups with heels so high

Just will not keep your tootsies warm and dry

Instead you'll want to yell, "Well, oh my gosh

Is there anything better than galoshes?"

(chorus)

You've got to choose wisely, choose carefully

When you choose your shoes

You've got to stop and think what your feet will need

So you'll know which ones to use.

When at the beach, your footwear should have some ease

So that your toes can feel all the salty breeze

Big cowboy boots or sneakers would be a scandal

You need instead a nice, light sandal!

(repeat chorus)

And when the day is through and it's time to rest

There's just one more footwear selection test

You might think hiking boots seem so much hipper

But with your PJs goes a comfy slipper!

(repeat chorus)

Different Things Together

A rainbow is a wondrous thing I've seen

But instead of all the colors, what if rainbows were all green?

If rainbows had no red, no violet, yellow, orange or blue?

Would a rainbow be as beautiful as a solitary hue?

It seems to me it wouldn't be if it were a single band

For it's all the colors together that make rainbows so grand

It's the different things together

(Different things together)

The different things together

(Different things together)

Different things together

(Different things together)

That make rainbows grand.

Someone singing solo can sing a sweet song

But the singing sounds still sweeter when someone sings along

When the voices come together with the lows and the middles and the highs

You can hear how magical it is to harmonize

LOW MIDDLE HIGH

'Cause it's the different things together

Lyrics

BEAUTIFULLY (THEN IT'S ART)

Stomped in the house, slammed the door

Threw my backpack on the floor

Dad asked me, "What did you do that for?"

I said, "I'm not going to school anymore!"

I took a paper out for him to see

I explained, "I tried to draw a tree,

But the teacher couldn't tell what it's supposed to be,

And then one of the other kids laughed at me."

I kicked my bag and said, "I'm not artistic."

Dad said to me, "No need to go ballistic,

I understand why you feel pessimistic,

But let's just take a breath and be realistic . . .

Not everyone can do a dance or write a play

But everyone's an artist in his or her own way

Anything you do to the finish from the start,

If you do it beautifully, then it's art.

Your uncle can't paint, but he can bake a pie

Bursting full of apples, good enough to make you cry

Your grandma fixes cars so well that when she's through

The engine's running better than it did when it was new

And you know how Mama loves us with a heart so full

Even when you and I don't act so lovable?

None of them can really dance or write a play

But each of them's an artist in his or her own way

Because anything they do to the finish from the start,

When they do it beautifully, then it's art.

It isn't something separate made by someone set apart

It's what you put out in the world that comes from in your heart

Anything you do to the finish from the start

If you do it beautifully

Not perfectly, but beautifully

There's no such thing as perfectly, but you can do it beautifully

And then it's art.

SWEET TREAT

Thank you for the dinner, it sure was good

I liked it even better than I thought I would

And I only spilled a little on my shirt

So please, may I have something for dessert?

I'd like a sweet treat

Something good to eat

To spread joy from my mouth to my fingers to my feet

Sweet treat

To make my meal complete

Since I finished all of my vittles

Please may I have just a little treat that's sweet?

Yummy gummy worms or Swedish Fish

No, thank you, I don't care for licorice

A jolly lollipop for a hundred licks

Possibly a couple of pixie sticks

Chocolate kisses or a chocolate bar

Or whatever other shapes of chocolate there are

If I'm not mistaken, I think I remember

We still have some candy canes left over from December

I'd like a sweet treat

Something good to eat

To spread joy from my mouth to my fingers to my feet

Sweet treat

To make my meal complete

Since I finished all of my vittles

Please may I have just a little

Sweet treat

Something small and neat

There's nothing like a popsicle to beat the heat

Sweet treat

Perfect and petite

Butterscotch or lemon drop

Pretty please with sugar on top

If you say yes, I promise I'll stop

If I can have a treat that's sweet!

TOOTHBRUSH DANCE

The dentist says, to protect my grin it's

Necessary to brush two minutes

Though that seems long, I need my teeth strong

To stop tooth germies from advancing

I must keep my toothbrush dancing

So I'll start in the front on the top

And the brush goes

Up and down and up and down and up and down and up

Then scootch a little to the side

And again go

Up and down and up and down and up and down and up

Get the germies where they try to hide

And to the back teeth!

Up and down and up and down and up and down and up

Then turn the brush around

And get the inside of those upper teeth with the same old up and down.

Back to the front, and

Up and down and up and down and up and down and up

Then scootch to the other side

And then go

Up and down and up and down and up and down and up

Get the germies so they can't hide

And to the back teeth!

Up and down and up and down and up and down and up

Once more, turn the brush around

And get the inside of those upper teeth

With the same old up and down.

Done with the top, proceed to the bottom

Repeat the procedures now that you got 'em . . .

Up and down and up and down and up and down and up

Now scootch again to the side

And then go

Up and down and up and down and up and down and up

Get the germies so they can't hide

And to the back again

Up and down and up and down and up and down and up

Once more, turn the brush around

And get the inside of those bottom teeth

With the same old up and down.

Back to the front again!

Up and down and up and down and up and down and up

One more time, scootch to the side

And then go

Up and down and up and down and up and down and up

Too bad, germies!  You can't hide!

And to the back again,

Up and down and up and down and up and down and up

One last time turn the brush around

And get the inside of those very last teeth

With the up and down and up and down.

Toothbrush dancing's so much fun

My routine is almost done

Take some water, just a bit,

Swish it 'round, rinse and spit!  That's it!

BEAUTIFUL

You think you're not enough

Wrong clothes, wrong hair, wrong stuff

But maybe something's broken in your mirror

I think that you don't see

What's obvious to me

It couldn't be any clearer

You're beautiful

Beautiful

Not because of what you wear

Not because of what you do

You're beautiful

So beautiful

If you were me

You'd see what I see

You're beautiful because you're you.

Sometimes you might feel strange

And think you need to change

The way that you look or who you are

I don't see any flaws

No, please don't change, because

Every bump and freckle, every scar

Is beautiful

So beautiful

Not because of what you wear

Not because of what you do

You're beautiful

Beautiful

If you were me

You'd see what I see

You know you can't believe the lies they tell you on TV

No matter what you wear or what you do

You're beautiful because you're you.

GINGERBREAD MOUSE

Sometimes I wish I could be a little mouse

Just to live in a gingerbread house

I'd throw a party for all the other mice

And everything would smell of gingerbread spice

If any guest wanted something to eat

He could nibble the wall for a gingerbread treat

My gingerbread house wouldn't need much expanse

Just enough room for a gingerbread dance

So the little mice ladies and the little mice men

Could dance the Tarantella, then dance it again

And if dancing quarters got close, I guess

We'd enjoy some gingerbread coziness

What kind of house it should be I don't know

A gingerbread castle or bungalow

A snow-covered house in the shape of a bell

Or a gingerbread candle carousel?

A gingerbread stable, 'neath a gingerbread star

With gingerbread wise men who travel far

A giant gingerbread evergreen

We could all live in a gingerbread submarine

An advent calendar with lots of doors

An apartment over a gingerbread stores?

A clock, a pagoda, a gramophone

How could I choose which to call my own?

It's just as well that I'm not a mouse

But, oh, to live in a gingerbread house.
